Current students

St. John’s University prepares students from across the U.S. and around the world for success as ethical leaders in today’s global society.

More than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled at our five campuses — 15,092 undergraduates and 5,254 graduate students. Together they represent 45 states and 122 foreign countries.

Students at St. John’s represent a vast range of nationalities, ethnicities and faith traditions. This fosters the cosmopolitan atmosphere you expect of a world-class Catholic university — reflecting the remarkable diversity of New York City itself.

Three New York City Campuses
St. John’s has three friendly, residential New York City campuses:

  • Our main campus comprises 105 acres of rolling lawns, tree-lined paths and outstanding academic and recreational resources in Queens, NY.
  • Our wooded, 18-acre Staten Island, NY, campus features a close-knit atmosphere with all the resources of a leading Catholic university
  • And the ten-story “vertical” campus in dynamic lower Manhattan offers access to nearby Wall Street, Chelsea and TriBeCa.

In addition, St. John’s has graduate centers in Oakdale, NY, and Rome, Italy, as well as learning centers in other European cities.

Diverse Resources
At our three residential New York campuses, students enjoy another kind of diversity as well — the rich and varied cultural and commercial resources of America’s greatest metropolis.

Whether you intern on Wall Street, brainstorm with Madison Avenue executives or volunteer at a soup kitchen, you’ll gain confidence for “the real world.” Then too, there is a our thrivingstudent life, with more than 150 clubs and activities.

Global studies is the next hallmark of the St. John’s experience. You can choose from semester, winter- or summer-break programs that immerse you in the languages and cultures of Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, even the Galapagos Islands.
