#SocialMediaAmbassador

Hello! Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Luke DaMommio; I am a sophomore in the TCB with my major as Management. If you follow SJU Social Media you have probably seen a few of my pictures or videos, like this one!

Being a Social Media Ambassador at St. John’s allows me to release some of that creative side in me. Doing video work is a big passion of mine, one that can be hard to incorporate all of the time. It is difficult for me to even get to take any film classes at school because of restrictions in my college. However, being a social media ambassador is a great way to be able to express your creative side, even if you’re a pharmacy major or a business major. Note: That is not to take away from any of the film majors or anything like that! We have plenty of those people as well!

You get a lot of perks being an SMA (as we so fondly refer to ourselves). You get to go to some cool events and welcome in the new students. This is always a lot of fun to see the brand new SJU look in someone’s eyes. You also get to go to some cool events on campus (even for free) and document them for the school. Not only that, but you get rewarded for your work. You are given gift cards and lots of other perks, oh and my favorite part, the team pizza dinners. They are meetings where we discuss upcoming social media topics, but they are also a lot of fun.

We have a lot of fun being SMAs, and we are relatively new. I highly suggest that incoming students who love social media look at getting involved. I love social media personally. Like most people, I am on it all the time, sometimes too much. I love the idea of being able to have a global conversation using hashtags, I love the idea of staying connected with friends and family, and I love the idea of always knowing when people’s birthdays are so when I see them it is not awkward.

If you enjoy something, why not pursue it? Some people just want social media to be a form of communication, and that is totally cool! If you are like me, and really do enjoy it, why not make a job out of it? Being a Social Media Ambassador has been one of the best SJU decisions I have made. I have made a lot of great friends (WHAT UP RYAN!) and have had an amazing time.
